▍ ❝   I. Before the Curse
Once upon a time... long before the Evil Queen and her Dark Curse, there was a boy. He was born in a cottage by the sea, and spent his childhood hearing tales and songs of daring seafarers and mystical creatures. His mother passed from a fever when he was young, and his father, a fugitive, traded his own sons into servitude for the means to escape the authorities.Killian grew up on various ships with his older brother Liam under several cruel masters, most notably Captain Silver, until a shipwreck during a hunt for a legendary treasure led to the two of them earning their freedom and a place in the king's navy aboard the Jewel of the Realm.Only a few years later his brother died in his arms during a quest to Neverland to collect what they'd been told was a healing herb, in truth a deadly poison. Blaming the king's lies, Killian turned to piracy, claiming to Jewel for his own and renaming her the Jolly Roger.While staying at a port in the Enchanted Forest he found love in the form of Milah. The unhappy wife of the village coward, she ran away with him a week later. Their happiness would not last though, as a reunion with her estranged husband, then the Dark One, a few years later ended with Killian losing both his love and his left hand.Swearing revenge, Killian left for Neverland where he spent more than a century plotting and occasionally working for Pan. In his first few years in Neverland he encountered Milah's son, Baelfire, whom he came to care for like his own, protecting him from Pan. It all fell apart when Baelfire learned of his connection to his mother.Returning to the Enchanted Forest permanently not long before the Dark Curse, he worked with the Evil Queen, and later her mother Cora for the promise of a way to get his revenge, with Cora using her magic to shield the two of them, and others nearby, from her daughter's Curse.

▍ ❝   II. After the Curse
After the curse was broken and time resumed, Hook worked with Cora to find a way to the Land Without Magic, briefly betraying her to work with the Saviour, Emma Swan, until Emma betrayed him. After arriving in Storybrooke and parting ways with Cora, he set out to get the revenge he'd planned for so long, though with limited success.Briefly allied with the outsiders Tamara and Greg, Killian changed his allegiance upon learning of their plans. Though initially intending to abandon the heroes, he had a change of heart. Aiding the heroes through Neverland, saving Henry and defeating Pan, Killian found something he never thought was possible, a reason to change.Yet even as he aided them against the Wicked Witch and the Snow Queen, and the heroes began to accept him, Killian struggled to see himself as worthy, leading to a series of poor decisions which ended with his heart in the hands of the Crocodile, forced to aid him in his scheme.After Rumplestiltskin was stopped, Killian continued trying to make amends, only for everything to fall apart when Emma Swan became the Dark One and dragged him with her into the darkness to save his life. Giving into his anger, Killian almost doomed those he had come to care for, but was able to fight back against the darkness at the last moment, sacrificing his own life to destroy it. However it was all for nothing as Rumplestiltkin absorbed it instead and became the Dark One once more.Killian ended up in the Underworld where he was tortured by Hades, until the heroes came to bring him back. Though their quest failed, he was eventually resurrected by Zeus for helping the heroes stop Hades.The peace didn't last long as he pretty much immediately ended up imprisoned by Hyde in the Land of Untold Stories, reunited with his vengeful half-brother, and helped the heroes fight Regina's evil side and later the Black Fairy and Rumplestiltskin's son.

▍ ❝   CURSED
An alternate universe/what if where Killian was caught in the Dark Curse and transported to Storbrooke with everyone else. Under the curse, Killian lives and works at the Storybrooke harbor as the town harbormaster, making his home on a boat. Due to his position, he often works with the sheriff and mayor in matters related to the harbor area. He often spends his evenings drinking at The Rabbit Hole, and might be one of the few people in town not afraid of Regina or Gold.

▍ ❝   LIEUTENANT
Enchanted Forest AU in which Killian and Liam are part of the navy during the reign of Snow and Charming. While his childhood and youth remain the same, this version of Killian never lost his brother or even met Milah, and thus never really gave in to his darker side. He still has issues with trust and anger after being sold into slavery by his father, but works hard to become a better man to make his brother proud.

▍ ❝   DETECTIVE
Wish!Hook/Rogers verse. Their history remains more or less the same up until the Dark Curse. Seeking a magical flower, Killian was tricked by Gothel into helping her concieve a child to take her place in the tower and gave up his revenge to raise his daughter, Alice, until the witch returned and poisoned his heart. Eventually his quest to reunite with his daughter led him to join forces with Henry and Regina Mills until all of them were swept up in a curse and transported to Hyperion Heights.
